Cooperation between the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Archives of the Republic of Korea has a history of almost ten years. It began on October 28, 2016 during the visit of the leadership of the Presidential Archive to Seoul, where the parties signed the first memorandum of cooperation. Over the years, the partnership has become practical. Thus, from 2017 to 2019, specialists from the Presidential Archive repeatedly underwent training in the Republic of Korea under the international Records and Archives Management Program, studying Korean experience in managing electronic documents, digital storage, digitization and restoration of archival materials. In turn, Korean archivists regularly took part in projects of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Representatives of the National Archives of the Republic of Korea acted as experts and lecturers at the International Summer School for Young Archivists, organized by the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and shared their experience of working with electronic documents and digitalization of archival materials. In 2022 they also took part in
I Congress of Archivists of Kazakhstan, presenting the Korean experience in standardizing document management. Kazakhstan and Korea are connected not only by modern diplomatic and economic relations, but also by a common historical memory. Today, the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan stores documents on the history of the Koreans of Kazakhstan, reflecting important pages of the 20th century. These materials are of significant interest to researchers from both countries and allow for a deeper study of the history of the Korean diaspora, the processes of resettlement, adaptation and its contribution to the development of Kazakhstan. That is why the development of archival cooperation between the two countries has not only professional, but also important historical and humanitarian significance. It was previously reported that South Korean CONTEC is considering localizing space production in Kazakhstan.
