Anti-fraud, currency regulation: How the National Bank uses artificial intelligence
Timur Suleymenov told about the work of JI-analytics
The National Bank uses artificial intelligence in the work of the Anti-Fraud Center, currency regulation and decision-making on monetary and credit policy. This was announced by the head of the monetary regulator Timur Suleymenov at the Central Asia Fintech Summit held in Almaty, Kapital.kz business information center reports.
"It is very important for us to introduce AI-analytics to the Anti-Fraud Center. Because law enforcement officers and our (Antifraud Center - Ed.) specialists who work with them are under a lot of pressure. About 100-200 complaints about fraudulent operations are received per day, it is impossible for one person to overcome such a large flow. And the AI-analytics introduced by us made it possible to reduce this load by 80 times. In short, this is a full-fledged mechanism that helps the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other bodies (on cyberattacks - Ed.) to make quick, effective and accurate decisions," noted Timur Suleymenov.

According to him, the National Bank is also developing artificial intelligence in currency regulation and financial monitoring. "There, too, the scale of work is very large, there are not a few suspicious operations. Sorting all this out by hand is too complicated," said the head of the National Bank.
In addition, an AI-assistant was launched to help the National Bank make decisions on monetary policy.
"Our system (for assessing the situation - Ed.) has both a "dove" and a "hawk". Frankly, it seems that our doves have turned into hawks due to too much information given to him... For example, in the matter of keeping the base rate unchanged or increasing it. That is why we are planning to introduce the third character - the "owl", who makes the wisest decisions," concluded Timur Suleymenov.

In November 2025, the head of the National Bank, Timur Suleymenov, is talking about the ideas of introducing artificial intelligence
