The two-day meeting will discuss AI infrastructure, digital transformation, startups, specialist training and investment, Tech-news reports. The C5+1 format connects Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan with the United States. The platform was established in 2015 and allows dialogue on regional economic, security and other areas. The main focus of this year's conference is artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The agenda includes the development of AI systems, computing infrastructure, data centers, digital communication, cyber security, and the implementation of AI in the economy and public services. Participants will also discuss AI applications in agriculture, energy, logistics and critical minerals. In addition, the training of specialists in the digital economy, the development of AI-startups, venture investments and cooperation between universities and research centers are considered. Another focus of the conference is cross-border data exchange and digital trade. These issues are related to the development of the common digital space of Central Asian countries. The joint statement on economic cooperation within the framework of C5+1 indicates the directions of support for IT startups, development of research and education in the field of AI, expansion of digital infrastructure and strengthening of cyber security. The document also mentions the development of data centers, 5G and 6G networks, satellite communication and digital services. One of these directions for Kazakhstan is to strengthen the digital infrastructure in cooperation with international technological partners. In November 2025, 29 agreements with a total value of about 17 billion dollars were signed between Kazakhstan and the USA. The documents covered areas such as digitization, education, innovation, energy and industry. During the visit, the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, "Kazakhtelecom", Freedom Holding and OpenAI signed a memorandum on the development of education based on artificial intelligence. The document envisages the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT Edu in the educational system. A memorandum on introduction of Direct-to-Cell technology was signed between Kazakhstan, Beeline and Starlink. The technology allows smartphones to be connected via satellite in areas where there is no terrestrial mobile network. Starlink Mobile service was launched in Kazakhstan on September 28, 2026. The C5+1 conference in Astana is becoming a platform for discussing the next stages of technological cooperation after these agreements. The participants will exchange regional experience in the implementation of AI, digital infrastructure and personnel training, and consider directions for future joint projects.
